Senior Venturers & Rover Scouts
Finland • Iceland • Estonia
Support Our ExpeditionWe are four Rover Scouts from the 1st Strathroy Scouting Group in Ontario, Canada. Rover Scouts are the oldest youth section within Scouts Canada, focused on leadership, service, and adventure.
For years we have volunteered in our local Scout group, developed outdoor skills, completed leadership training, and participated in community service projects. This expedition is the next step in our Scouting journey.
Unlike typical group trips, this expedition is entirely youth-led. We designed the itinerary, researched destinations, built the budget, and developed the risk and logistics plans ourselves. Our Scouters serve as mentors and safety leaders, but the responsibility for planning and executing the expedition belongs to us.
During the trip we will rotate leadership roles each day, including navigation, budget management, logistics coordination, and group wellness. This approach follows the Scouting philosophy of Plan – Do – Review, where youth plan the experience, carry it out, and reflect on what they learn.
We are excited to explore new cultures, experience incredible landscapes, and represent our community internationally. When we return, we hope to share what we learned with younger Scouts and inspire the next generation of leaders and adventurers.
Wilderness camping, lakes, sauna culture & leadership.
Volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls & environmental exploration.
Cultural exchange, Tallinn history & international scouting.
This expedition is entirely youth-planned and youth-funded. Each Rover Scout is contributing personal fundraising and income to make this experience possible. Community support helps reduce the financial barrier to participating in a meaningful international leadership experience.
Donations directly support the educational and cultural components of the trip, helping cover transportation, accommodations, and program activities across Iceland, Finland, and Estonia.
Flights, ferries, and public transit between destinations. The team will rely entirely on licensed transportation services and public transit systems throughout the expedition.
Safe and modest accommodations in Reykjavík, Helsinki, and Tallinn that allow the team to travel responsibly while maintaining a structured itinerary.
National parks, museums, historic sites, and cultural experiences that align with Scouts Canada's leadership, citizenship, and environmental learning goals.
Every contribution helps make this youth-led international learning experience possible. We are grateful for the support of our community.
